Edward Okulicz (AUS) was down 277 to 394 against Allan Simmons (Sco) at Board 7, when he drew ADEGIM? ("the jammiest pickup of my life") to give him a nine-timer (triple-triple) through a P in the seventh position for 190 points (including a challenge) and a 494-439 win. Simmons could have saved himself the loss had he challenged the original play (YOUP*) setting up the triple-triple.

The highest-scoring one-point loss of the event so far is not Tony Leah's (CAN) 454-455 loss this round to Andrew Fisher (AUS), but a 488-489 loss by Nick Ball (CAN) to Thacha Koowirat (THA) in Round 12.

In another close game, Nigel Richards (Wru) retains his lead with a 435-433 win over Mikki Nicholson (Eng) at Board 1. Nigel is now 16-5 +1399. Behind him are two more winners from this round, Adam Logan (CAN) 472-416 over Chris May (AUS), 15-6 +1144; and Brett Smitheram (Eng) 413-308 over Craig Beevers (Eng).

Next round's annotated game at Board 1 will be a repeat of an earlier clash of titans: 2007 World Champion Nigel Richards vs. 2005 World Champion Adam Logan.
