Stewart Holden (NIr) beat Trevor Halsall (AUS) 420-387, on the strength of the pretty bingo IZVESTIA (110). Howard Warner (NZL) just played PARHELION through IO, but lost 373-441 to Marty Gabriel (USA). Last round, he played DEMEANING and lost 382-438 to Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA). He is going to try eschewing nine-letter bingoes next round and concentrate on winning. We had our first tie this round, between fellow countrymen Nathan Benedict (USA) and Chris Cree (USA): 450-450, a fairly high-scoring tie game, possibly the highest in WSC history, but nowhere near the official competitive record (502-502). |
