Odds (against) contenders at start of round:

Craig Beevers (Eng) (19-7) 7:5. Andrew Fisher (AUS) (18-8) 9:5. Nigel Richards (Wru) (18-8) 5:2. Chris May (AUS) (18-8) 7:2. Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (Wsc), Dave Wiegand (USA), Adam Logan (CAN), Ming Hui Hubert Wee (SGP) and Brett Smitheram (Eng) (17-9) 10:1 each. 16-10 with good spread: 20-1 or higher.

At Board 1, Fisher plays Beever for the second time, and wins 507-476.

At Board 2, Richards plays May for the second time, and wins 507-476.

At Board 3, Wiegand plays Smitheram for the second time, and wins 450-336.

Logan loses to Tony Leah (CAN) 478-437, in a game where Logan bingoed three times, only to see Leah reply with two triple-triples and an easy endgame. Leah now has an enviable 3-1 record against World Champions at this event, having beaten Logan, Richards and Mark Nyman (Eng), and lost to Pakorn.

The field remains close, with each of Richards, Fisher and Beevers on 19-8 with 2:1 odds against making it to the finals. Three players still have a good chance at 18-9: Wiegand, Pakorn and May; and the eight players on 17-10 haven't yet lost hope.

Third tie game of the event: Brian Bowman (USA) and Tony Sim (SGP), 394-394.
