Nigel Richards (NZL) beat Helen Gipson (Eng) last round 518-415, and remains on Board 1, facing 12th-ranked Andrew Fisher (AUS). The pairings currently restrict the top flight to 12 players, so if there is a 1-12 pairing it is a sign that repeats will begin soon.

Ganesh Asirvatham (MYS) beat Joel Wapnick (CAN) 473-357 last round, and remains at Board 2, facing 9th-ranked David Webb (Eng).

Wellington Jighere (NGA) lost to Tim Adamson (USA) 421-448 last round, but remains at Board 3, playing Charnwit Sukhumrattanaporn (THA).

Richards is alone at 15-3, Asirvatham at 14-4. Jighere, Hubert Wee (SGP) and Tim Adamson (USA) are at 13-5, Wapnick, Suanne Ong (MYS) (who beat Adam Logan (Wsc) last round), Panupol Sujjayakorn (THA), Webb and Sukhumrattanaporn are at 12-6.

Joel Wapnick (CAN) bingoed CEILMNS through I, see photo.

Five bingoes in a row between Marty Gabriel (USA) and Howard Warner (NZL): AEILOSU through D, CGNOYS? through L, AELNORT through I (the anagram that takes a P in front), triple-triple AEIPST? around an S in the seventh position, and BEIINRT through S, see photo.

At Dean Saldanha (CAN) and Mark Schellenberg's (CAN) board: EIKRSVY through D, see photo.

I'm delighted and relieved to report that I have tracked down and eliminated a bug that had been plaguing the rank diagrams since the beginning of the tournament. Computer programmers may be interested to know that the problem was that it turns out that this is the first time that the web site has been hosted on a machine on which readdir() does not return filenames in sorted order.

First result: Adam Logan (Wsc) beats Akshay Bhandarkar (ARE) 465-386.
