Wellington Jighere (NGA) brought Ganesh Asirvatham's (MYS) long winning streak to an end at Board 1; and Nigel Richards (NZL) lost to Hubert Wee (SGP) at Board 2.

This leaves Asirvatham, Jighere and Richards in contention at 18-5. Since Jighere and Richards have not yet played each other a second time they play each other now, and Asirvatham plays fourth-place Joel Wapnick (CAN).

Jighere and Richards play on Board 1, as Asirvatham is almost certain to make it to the finals. Almost, since Jighere and Richards could tie and Asirvatham could lose. Both Boards 1 and 2 will be annotated, with Board 2 being posted after it is finished.

The winner of each final game can claim the board they played on; the loser received the tiles.

Nigel Richards (NZL) beat Wellington Jighere (NGA) 502-353 to advance to the finals; Joel Wapnick (CAN) beat Ganesh Asirvatham (MYS) 501-368 but did not keep Asirvatham out of the finals, so it will be Asirvatham vs. Richards in the best-of-five finals tomorrow morning at 10:00 IST.

It's 18:10, results have been printed and distributed around the room and we're holding a small closing ceremony in advance of the finals.

At the closing ceremony, all players were presented with personalized certificates of participation, and the hotel presented a cake to the finalists.
