Geoff Thevenot (USA) beat Willy Mwangi (KEN) 461-377 and Wellington Jighere (NGA) beat David Eldar (AUS) 406-402 and they are the last two players remaining undefeated, ahead of 19 players at 41. Congratulations to Suanne Ong (MYS) for scoring the event's first 600+ game, a 601-342 win over Marc Roddis (SWE); she was quickly surpassed by Harshan Lamabadusuriya's (Eng) 603-257 win over Ricardo Gonzalez (SAU). In the team standings, Nigeria pulls a fraction of a win ahead of Scotland, averaging 3.5 wins to their 3.333. Other teams averaging at least 60% are England, U.S.A., Uganda (represented by Phillip Edwin-Mugisha (UGA)), India and Romania. Wellington and David's four-point game is the featured Board 1 game this round, and is needless to say an exciting nailbiter of a game. David made two challenges, one of which cost him five points and the game, the other removed a phoney bingo from the board. |
